Automotive Game Day

We are excited to announce, for the first time, “Automotive Game Day” at the IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV2023), organized by the Intelligent Transportation Systems Society (ITSS) in Anchorage, Alaska, USA, from June 04 to June 07. The automotive industry today is experiencing a rapid pace of innovation, with Software-Defined Vehicles becoming a reality using micro devices-based architecture and the continuous need to connect to services in the cloud to support use cases such as fleet management.

One major problem is the drowsiness/distraction of the vehicle’s driver. As of 2024, all new vehicles sold within the European Union are required to have Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS).

The competition will focus on building a cloud-based DMS to improve driver safety by analyzing video streams in the cloud and sending back alerts to the driver in the vehicle. The competition will first introduce the reference solution cloud architecture and Amazon Web Services (AWS) on June 05, 2023.

Then, an assignment will be given in which each team has 24 hours to augment the cloud stack to improve the driver experience, and they will return on June 07, 2023, to present their solutions. Presented solutions
will be graded, and based on the leaderboard, the winning team will be awarded AWS credits as well as special IV2023 certificates and awards.

We look forward to your participation in this unique and fun learning experience about AWS services and insights on using them for connected cars. Hurry up and register, as participation is limited to 10 teams (with a maximum of 4 members per team).

Participants are required to bring their own laptops.

Registration will remain open until seats are filled.
